You're Fired

I'm feeling a little empowered today, because much like The Donald, I fired everybody.

I fired my lawyer, I fired my ex-ASS-husband and I fired this whole Divorce/custody/support cluster-fu*k (I didn't say it) my life has become lately. I have been free of that cancer/man for over 5 years, yet I still find myself in court paying money to get HIM to pay money. At this point I'm completely upside down and still fighting for principle. Guess what?

I'm done and you're fired.

Hey, deadbeats are people too, right? There was a time, long ago, that he was trying to get me to pay him money. You heard me right, me pay him, but the judge kinda laughed at that one. Ridiculous litigation sometimes brings about those kind of responses in judges. And looking back, that's exactly what I have been doing all this time. Participating in ridiculous litigation.

You're either an active, interested, participating co-parent or you're not. I realize that no matter how much money I spend on trying to make sure he holds up his end of the bargian, a deadbeat's still a deadbeat and history shows that is a fact that is not going to change. So for my children's sake, I fired him and I fired everyone else who was bloodsucking off me in the name of so-called justice.

Yesterday I went in pro se (sans attorney) and it was like taking candy from a baby. I have sat in a probate courtroom duing the last five years and seen hundreds of women go before the judge pro se. I've seen them come in dressed down, dressed up and win and loose for whatever reason and I decided I no longer wanted to participate in this game any longer because it only hurts the children. As long as I am on this earth, my children will be my priority and that's all that really matters. I can't legally bully their father into making them a priority...anymore. I don't need a laywer because the laws are what they are, and I'm not asking for anything more than nothing.

Yesterday was proof of that. I need no law degree to stand before a judge and let him hang himself.

Done.

Fired.

I'll be fine and so will they and that's all that really matters. Because I will make sure.

Ooh. And here I am presently deciding whether or not I want to hire a lawyer in my relocation battle or not. I saw one yesterday - to do what I probably should it will cost me $8000, but it will piss off my ex and make him drag the whole thing out and make it UGLY. Or I can go the chickenpoop route and try and work with him rather than busting his balls. Tough choice. I dunno.

((((BIG HUGS))))

You know what you need? You need a half hour alone with a punch bag (believe me, this works WONDERS) and then a sit down session with your favourite liquor and that Russian Lololo guy I posted last week. You will be in happyville ALL WEEK! :)

Screw the world!

We did our divorce with no lawyers. but I got lucky. I had a VERY guilty husband who traded me in for a 35 year old when I was approaching 50. I got the house, the kids, everything inside the house, 60% of his 401K and $2500 a month in alimony for 8 years and $500 in child support that was supposed to stop this past June but he's still giving it to me. And I hope it bites Maleficent's ass every time she sees him write that check to me.

Please don't fire me. Reading blogs is one of the few jobs I have right now. :)

Bravo!! You GO GIRL. Like the saying goes, "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear." Screw the bastards. Spending good money after bad gets you nowhere and you're much better off without the stress of the fight. NOW YOU'RE IN CONTROL!

Yeah, good for you, Candy. Do you really want someone that has to be forced to be with the kids to actually BE with the kids?

Probably not.

Time to move forward, you're much better off this way.

Good for you.

As you say you were trying to force something that was clearly never going to happen so why waste the cycles and the money on it.

Paying lawyers is absolutely draining. After the last battle (and indeed it was) that took two years and cost $20K just for me to retain original visitation schedule, I think both my ex and I never wanted to do it again. Youngest turns 18 in 5 months and I'm hopeful for continued smooth sailing. Sure helped me to learn that divorce doesn't sever you so much from you ex but instead you have to bargain with them even more with NO leverage. Hard lesson to learn.
