So Now I'm Really Pissed

OK, now I'm pissed.  Another Twitter virus???

WTF!!! How does this happen?

Does this mean I'm Twitter vulnerable? I got the virus from my daughter's friend. Her Twitter feed sent me a message yesterday that said, "OMG, I'm laughing at these pics of you (followed by a link)". Last year, the same thing happened and I totally fell for it and tried clicking on the link. I must have tried three or four times, then I started to get the messages from my followers that someone had hacked my account. I changed my password and did what I had to and proceeded on. Problem solved.

This time, I knew it was a virus and did not click on the link. I ignored it. Was that my mistake? Then last night, I got another message from my daughter's friend that said, "Someone is saying terrible things about you (followed by a link)".  Even though I didn't click the link this time, my followers still got the virus. WTF??? How annoying. I have since deleted all the messages, changed my password, but I want to know how it got into my account. Now I'm a Twitter hazard, since it's happened twice.

How do I protect against this happening again? I mean, I use my Twitter for business and today one of my favorite clients emailed me and asked me personally if I knew who it was that was saying bad things about her. I immediately explained to her that it was a virus and that I was sorry for the inconvenience, but that can't be good for business.

Any advice? I'm so pissed.

This Here Is Some Bullsh*t

I flippin mad right now.

So I'm blogging away on my husband's brandy new laptop this morning. I move my cursor down to the right hand icon corner to check the network status and this window pops up that tells me I need to run a virus scan. Remembering that my husband once told me that when that stuff pops up, always run the scans because that's why you have that shit on your computer. You know, the virus protection.

I click to run the scan and minimize the window so I can continue on about my business. I'm blogging about the stupid shit I always blog about; the shit I watch on TV and this ANNOYING window keeps popping up telling me that the scan has detected 25 threats and I must run the software now or risk infecting the computer. Ok, so I click run the fricken thing and leave me alone cuz I'm busy, and this new window pops up telling me to add my credit card and for $69.99 I can get protection.

Now mama didn't raise no fool, so I immediately click out of this shit and click the "continue on without protection NOT RECOMMENDED" and now I can't get the pop up to stop trying to get my credit card number. I'm usually patient soul, but I'm seeing that I can't save the work on blogger and now I can open a new window in anything. No MSN, no Internet Explorer no nuthing but this F-ING window that keeps popping up, trying to get my credit card number or my computer is gonna blow up.

I then tried to log on and off the computer about 10 times but I still couldn't shake that F-ING pop up warning. After About 40 minutes of this back and forth window bullshit I'm thinking I really screwed something up so I better just give my credit card number so I can get on with my life. Just before I do this, I decide to call my husband and ask him what kind of spyware he has and why it has expired when this is a new computer. Thank God I did this because he told me about the scam that it is.

Bottom line...WTF WAS THAT? Now my hubby has to fix this mess, which he can, but it's going to take some work. And I already wasted 2 hours on this crap today.

Am I an idiot? Don't answer that. Now I'm blogging on my iPad and wondering why this shit never happens on Apple products. No wonder their stock was looking good yesterday. My next laptop will probably be a Mac.

Tomorrow I'm telling a joke that my mother told at dinner last night that literally almost made me choke on my dinner.
I think I can handle that on the iPad.

iPad Mania

I'd like to introduce you to my new best friend.

I got an iPad for Christmas and I seem to be taking it with me wherever I go. Me and my new iPad, we're just like peas and carrots. Having just traveled by plane on my tiny little adventure, I noticed that the iPad seemed to be every one's new best friend as almost 1 out of 3 people sitting and waiting for flight delays, had on their laps, a brandy new, sparkling iPad.

Seriously, 1 out of 3 people were in possession of the iPad. What does this say about Apple's dominance in the personal computer industry? And what happens to all those brandy new iPads when Apple upgrades to a new and improved model in the next 3-6 months? Talk about market saturation.

So here's the question: Has the iPad replaced the lap top as the lap device of choice? I, like everyone else, was fascinated when Apple launched the iPad back in April 2010. I even bought one for My Guy, on pre-order, because I figured as a gadget guy, this was one gadget he just had to have. My Guy was not so impressed when he heard the news that the iPad had been purchased for him and would be arriving in the next few months. "I'm not an Apple guy," he told me.

Boy was he wrong, because he even hinted when it came time for the iPad to arrive that he was slightly excited. So it came, and we all played with it, and checked our emails in the kitchen and family room, and used it for our ongoing Google battles (another story), but that was about it for the iPad. It became the kitchen computer for easy and quick access. About a month or two ago, My Guy bought this thing called Apple TV and his whole technological life changed. Using his iPad as a remote, My Guy now has so much information at his fingertips, that we joke that he has taken to carrying his iPad around the house like his blankie.

With Apple TV we can access all of My Guy's extensive music library, movies, TV Shows and even download them onto the iPad for enjoyment when we travel. These days he is never without his iPad, even at his side at his desk at work. He has become a fan. I find myself marveling at the ease and access I now have with my own iPad.

Do we really need to be a two iPad family? The answer is no, of course not. But I can say without reservation that the purchase of my iPad was not in vain as I use the iPad for what it is best intended to be used for.
