Death Row Dinner
If I was to face the firing squad tomorrow, I would have no problem choosing my final meal.
Without question, it would be my very own spaghetti and meatballs. Nothing spells lovin like a heaping plate of awesome. Growing up, my mom's recipe was a sure thing to bring us all home, together at the table for mom's spaghetti and meatballs. I have since perfected the recipe and now they all come home for my brand of spaghetti love. It's the kind of dinner that everybody is dreaming about all day. I could never share the recipe here. Sorry, but then I'd have to kill you-as this treasured concoction has been handed down from mother to daughter and will continue from mother to daughter. It's a sacred bond.
Electric chair tomorrow? What would be your choice?

Ode To My Birthday Boy
The Golden Years are here at last!
I cannot see.
I cannot pee.
I cannot chew.
I cannot screw.
My memory shrinks.
My hearing stinks.
No sense of smell.
I look like hell.
Yeah, the Golden Years have come at last,
and the Golden Years can kiss my a*s!
Happy Birthday to My Guy!
And don't worry baby, I'm right there all Golden next to you...

Blow Me One Last Kiss.
Dang, she's hot.
Seriously, I was watching her perform on the Today Show this morning and I was just thinking about how sexy and hot Pink is. She's hot in so many ways than being just hot too.
I mean first, she's a Rock Star. Crazy talented, edgy and just crazy-f-ed up enough to produce some real genius. Pink rocks it hard and from her music you get the feeling that in her short 33 years on this planet she's lived a lot of life. She doesn't lip sync her live performances because she changes up her spot on raspy vocals with some amazing harmonies which are unique to each show. Her songs usually have her trademark profanities laced within the lyrics but Pink gladly deletes them for more viewer friendly venues like Rockefeller Plaza. All signs that the once hard-core rocker has softened.
Now she's a mom. And clear, sober and happy are the words Pink uses to describe her life today. Reunited with her husband Corey Hart after a brief separation, she's got a beautiful little girl and she's just released a new album that drops today entitled, "The Truth About Love."
Then there's the whole 'she doesn't even know she's beautiful' thing. Pink, the same girl that sang, "Tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears/ She's so pretty. That just ain't me." in her hit "Don't Let Me Get Me", just signed a contract with Cover Girl. Not pretty? She's now a Cover Girl spokesmodel.Take that Britney Spears.
I just love her spirit. She's sexy, beautiful, young, rich, and taking the world by storm once again. If the secret to success in the industry is reinvention (see Madonna) Pink has proved a solid player by just being good.... and true to herself. Pink always "Get's the Party Started" leaving us to "Raise our Glass" and when it's all said and done she reminds us that no one, least of all her, is."F*****ng Perfect".

Hall Of Famer's

Nothing brings shrieks of delight from small children more than toys. Especially at Christmas time, when the promise of their most coveted toy possibly nestled under their tree helps to keep many awake at night with excitement. Toys are an important part of childhood, and some even instrumental in your child's development. The National Toy Hall Of Fame, based in Rochester, NY, just released their 2011 inductees, and I might have shrieked with delight myself when I read them. They are as follows:
The Dollhouse: It's been well documented here on The Daily Dandy how much I love miniatures, so I was overjoyed to see one of my most favorite childhood play things on the list. (Please note, that I still have mine, complete with furnishings, stashed lovingly away for safe keeping) The first dollhouses were created for adults only in Europe in the 1500's, and were designed to showcase a lady's great wealth. Copies of funrnishings were produced to scale with only the finest materials, fabrics and craftsmanship. It wasn't until the 17th century that German toy makers created dollhouses for small children.
Playing Cards: I spent many long hours playing cards with my freinds and family throughout my childhood. I loved Solitaire, War, Crazy Eight's, Go Fish and Rummy 500, to name only a few of the countless ways to play. I've even tried to engage a friend or two in a friendly game of 52 pick up.. With cards origin's spread across the globe, it wasn't until after the Revolutionary War that American's got Playing Cards straight from England, and they have remained a favorite amongst children and adults alike.
Blanket: This one, while somewhat bizarre, I have to agree with. Bizarre because one would not think that a blanket, made for warmth and comfort, would be considered a "Hall Of Fame" winning child's play thing. On the contrary, a child's beloved blanket sometimes serves as he/she's best friend and protector. A cape, a cloak, the skirt on a movie star's dress, a head piece, a tent; the possibilities are endless. I think Frick might agree, whole heartedly, with this one too.
Hot Wheels: I have two brothers closest in age to me, so safe to say there were a lot of Hot Wheels floating around my house. They had them in tins and boxes, all brightly colored and neatly lined up, the minature lover in me couldn't help but be attraceted to these mini hot rods.According to the National Toy Hall Of Fame website:
"In the 1960s, Elliot Handler, a cofounder of Mattel, Inc., envisioned a die-cast car to surpass the popular English Matchbox brand. He wanted a line of toy cars to dominate Mattel’s boys’ division just as its Barbie doll had become the strongest brand in its girls’ division. Handler insisted that the toy cars look authentic, so the project enlisted Harry Bradley, a top auto designer from Chevrolet, to lead the toy design team. What Handler really wanted was not the cars of Detroit, but the radical versions altered by custom-car shops—like vehicles he often saw on California’s highways."
Hot Wheels popularity only increased every year after that and has surpassed what was originally ever dreamed about. The National Toy Hall of Fame website says that Mattel claims that a Matchbox car is sold in the US every 8 seconds.
And last but certainly not least..
The Game Of Life: I remember the first time I played this game, it was with my brother and I might have enven beaten him. The game of Life was a great intro to strategizing life's big picture. It's three dimentional playing board equipt with each player presented with choices about college, business, marriage and children and navigating through those choices with a Payday. In the 60's version of Life, players could end up in the "Poor Farm" or "Millionaire Acres", where as the politically correct 2010 version offers both "Millionaire Estates" and "Countryside Acres" as their game ending destination.
My most memorable Christmas as a child included an aluminum, minature kitchen set complete with refridgerator, food, dish washer and sink. As I came down the stairs, I might have passed my dad on his way up to go to bed after a long night of setup, but I never caught on till years later.
I just remember how much I loved those toys.

I die...Miss Piggy in Brian Atwood shoes
Miss Piggy in Jason Wu designs in this month's In Style magazineI've always loved pigs. Maybe I was influenced by Charlotte's best friend Wilbur when I was a little girl, but their cute little pug noses and curly tails always made them the best stuffed doll option in the toy store. Pigs were big when I was a kid and I remember there was a great store in the Faneuil Hall Market place called, "Hogs Wild" that carried any and all things that had to do with pigs. I loved it there.
Back then, there was one pig who reigned supreme if you were a pig lover and no other pig even came close. Miss Piggy was the Queen of the pig-loving world and every other pig was a cheap imitation. Piggy had swagger and the posse to prove it and she had her man, Kermit the Frog. Although Miss Piggy didn't start out as a major Muppet character, in the late 70s and early 80's, Piggys popularity sky rocketed, surpassing all the other Muppet characters in popularity and merchandising.
It was like nothing could stop her.
Miss Piggy has written 5 books, one a New York Times best seller, and performed with many Hollywood hotshots. She even sang a duet with Sir Elton John himself and wore the clothing of the most sought after fashion designers in the world. Not bad for a puppet with purple gloved hands who never quite seemed to get her man, I mean frog. Poor Kermit. When she isn't loving him and smothering him in kisses, she is giving him a huge karate chop with her signature, "Hi-Ya!" and sending him flying.
Now Miss Piggy is enjoying a resurgence of her popularity due to the upcoming Muppet movie. What will Miss Piggy do for an encore? It's hard to top Piggy. Those who knew her best suggest not even going there.
The late, great Jim Henson, creator of the Muppets once said of Miss Piggy when they were creating the new show, "Fraggle Rock",

"We would anticipate coming up with new personalities which would have much of the same appeal as a Kermit , Fozzie or Gonzo. We will not create anybody with Miss Piggy's kind of appeal-nobody should even try."
