You Decide: A Rare Photo Op Of Candy's Dandy Family

Photo 1

My moms birthday is coming up in a few weeks, so two nights ago my brothers and sisters and I got together at my house. We took some pictures to have framed to give to my mom as a gift. We took 45 pictures and we have narrowed it down to three, but of course, we can't decide. It all comes down to the battle of the sexes; the boys vs. the girls.

I'm putting it out there for you all to decide. Please vote for the one you think is the best photograph on the poll on my sidebar and let's see which one wins because I have to get this sucker to the framer, today.
OK, so the photograph above is the one all the girls agree on. We love this photo. We like the way my older brother has his arms around all of us and the fact that everyone looks great. We think this is a no-brainer. BUT my brother, does not like this one. He likes this one:

Photo 2

While we all agree that this is a great photo, we think this one is not as warm or appealing as Photo 1. This one would be great in an 8x10 framed for a table photo, but not in a big 11x17 wall portrait size. The girls think this one is too perfectly spaced, and does not show our personalities as much as Photo 1, but the boys like this one and think that visually this is a better photo. (Do men and women see spacial relations differently??)

Photo 3

This is the third option and it is the one that everyone looks at and says,"You know, I kinda like this one too." After much deliberation we (the girls) decided that this one was too "pose-y", with all of us lined up according to height, but again, it's a shot we keep coming back to. A great candidate for a 8x10 or a 5x7.

Thanks so much for helping us out. Please vote and let's see what happens.
We thought about having them all framed together in one big collage, then unanimously decided we wanted just one shot for a wall portrait. We will most likely frame the runners-up, in 8x10's and we will make an album for mom with the rest of the shots.

A few side notes-
14 year-old Frick took all the shots. Didn't she do a fabulous job??? Props to Frick!!

This was a ton of fun and I highly recommend doing it if you have a special occasion to mark.

It's amazing to me that we got the shots that we did. Since my brother, the one in the white golf shirt, is quite possibly the funniest human being on the planet, there were a whole bunch like this:

These are, for sure, our most favorite!

I'm going with #2 cause I think it does show your individual personalities. I think it's the most "comfortable" looking photo, not totally staged.

I voted for #2 as well. 3 is without question "too posey".

Okay, I guess there is a gender bias thingy. I voted for 1. Sorry Wil and Heff.

DEFINITELY THE FIRST ONE! Like you said, it's the one with personality and warmth. I love it!! And, my goodness, you are a gorgeous family, Candy!!!! :-)

I like #1--Show me the luv! All of you look very comfortable!

I like #1 - it is really a testament to your mom how close you guys remain (at least in the picture).

I like the 2nd one, also. That chick in the middle is HOTTTTT. :)

I've got to tell you Candy. It's always surprised me that you don't put more pictures of yourself up on your blog.

It's not like we don't already know what you look like.

We know what you look like from the Avatar picture.

I'm glad you put up more pics because (snaps finger) You are goooood looking girl!

How do you even walk down the street without being harrassed?

No. 2 is the best of the three. It's natural, has a relaxed sensibility and it is balanced.

No. 1 is too much of the men and the women seem to be stuck in as after thoughts. Also, there is no balance to the photo.

Same for No. 3 - it is too formal and the balance is awkward. Overly posed.

Wow that's a tough one. I voted for #2. That is a lovely picture.

I like one, but I like the spacing on #2!

Great looking family!

and btw, you cracked me up on your comment over at Heff's place. hahahaha

Happy Wed!

Great looking family! I like #2.

Honestly, I would pick one of those last ones. Nothing my parents loves seeing more than all their kids laughing it up and having a good time.

I vote for the second one of the little runners up set. It's the most real and I like that you're all laughing.

I voted #2. Candy, we have to talk.

Not sure how I'm going to vote because the rejected one that's second from the bottom is my fave.

I guess the second one AND the one I liked with the laughing.

The candid shots at the end are a hoot! Make sure you make up a small photo album of all of them as I'm sure your Mom will be delighted to see them all!

Ooops. Forgot to say I voted for Photo #1!

Photo 1 has the best photo appeal, Photo 2 is too perfect and staged. Photo 3 looks like a gospel music album cover.

All in all, I think the 2nd photo of the 4 photos at the bottom of your post has the most personality, and really tells a story. It says, "someone did/said something funny to crack you guys up". It's more spontaneous, and will always make the observer laugh and wonder about that story.

I love all of them, but #1 is definitely the one where Everyone looks their best!

We did this for my mom for her 70th last year, but just the grandchildren. Funny, because we also went for the blue jean/white tee theme. You can see them on my FB pics, if you want.

I'm going with number 1. It's a beautiful and warm picture.
Great job Frick :)

My absolute favorite is the second of the "goofy" ones . . . everyone looks happy and relaxed, but no one looks dorky.

Of the nominees, I went with #2. Not a typical staging, and everyone seems relaxed.

Good lookin' family, though, you can't really go wrong.

vote for picture #5.

Instantly it was no 2 for me.

No 1 is a close second but there is something just not there in that one.

No 3 - no, too posey

the bottom three are the best without a doubt.

Btw - congrats to the photographer who clearly has talent
