Trash Talk

That's it.

I'm ending all the Pats/Jets trash talk right here. This SI cover from 2007 says all that need to be said.

My Tommy's the deal breaker.

I am SO sick of all this Jets trash talk that I'm crawling out of my skin in anticipation for this game. When My Tommy and the boys open up a can of Whoop Ass on the Jets on Sunday, I WILL be there. I may even bring my new Flip cam and film some of the highlights to show you on Monday.

On paper we are the better team; more experienced, better offense and the best QB in the game. What we lack in defense, could Belichick make up for with schemes? Is Wilfork the heart of this young, tough defense? We should handle the Jets, no problem. But, I've said it before, this is a whole new season and anything can happen. This is going to be legendary.

And we don't go around trash talking. We just do our trashin' on the gridiron.

My Jets loving trainer and I had a slight debate going this morning (more Jets trash talk) and he commented on something that was so laughable, that I told him that I would throw it out there to my blogger buddies.

He said, "The Patriots have never won a legitimate Super Bowl."

After I picked myself up from the floor, because I was laughing so hard, I looked him square in the eye and said, "Are you shi**ing me? You are talking about arguably one of the greatest Quarterbacks to EVER play the game and a Hall Of Fame Head Coach. This team is on track to win their 4th Super Bowl in the new Millenium."

He cited "The Tuck Rule" and "Spy Gate" as his reasons for the Pats Super Bowl wins. "Why do you think everyone hates the Patriots?"he said.
To which I answered, "Everyone loves the Patriots because they are a DYNASTY, and when we bring home the Lombardi trophy from Dallas, all you naysayers will have to come up with some other pathetic reason to say it's not legit."

Call me a homer because I may just be the biggest but quiet confidence is how US Pats fans are feeling today. There is no need to trash talk.

And yes, HE is that good.

  1. Oooooo. Sounds like your trainer has a bad case of "Bitter Ass."

  2. Technically, your trainer is correct. The Pats have never won a legitimate Super Bowl. They won 3 of them! This Joker loves the Pats! Hoodie is going to make it happen! My only concern and the team (if everything goes right) that will give the Pats any real opposition would the be the Atlanta Falcons on Super Bowl Sunday.

No one is really talking about Atlanta. This makes this Joker nervous. Atlanta has a really good team this year.

Regardless, I am rooting for my Pats to take it all again this year! As I said, Hoodie will make it happen!

  3. Joker-I said the SAME thing to my Jet's loving trainer this morning. I'm talking and looking at Atlanta...believe me.

  4. I'm a fan of the Jets, but I would never stoop to dismissing the accomplishments of the Patriots. They are the best team in football right now and they have been for the better part of the last decade. Period.

    That being said...GO JETS!

  5. Candy, you know I love you, but come one now. Brady is the biggest candyass in the history of sports. When he can take a hit and not immediately plead for a roughing the passer penalty, maybe I'll have some respect for the guy. There was a game not too long ago where a defender got blocked into him and rolled gently up against Marcia Brady's leg. He didn't even fall, but he turned to the ref and made the "throw the flag" motion. AND THE REF THREW THE FLAG! It was embarrassing. You don't see guys like Aaron Rodgers or Ben Roethlisberger begging for a flag. They understand that they're football players, and sometimes they're gonna get tackled.

Don't even get me started on the tuck rule. That was a joke and everyone knows it.

I will say this: Being a Jets fan, I'd like to see them actually win something meaningful before they start running their mouths. And if they don't, they shouldn't complain when someone (lookin' at YOU, Belichick) runs the score up on them.

I hate the Patriots with almost (but not quite) the same ferocity with which I hate the Red Sox. I'd obviously love to see the Jets take them out this weekend.

  6. I hate the Patriots. I won't say they're not a good team because they are...although they're not as good as they used to be. (Of course, they always manage to kill the Steelers with their little short passes.)

But please don't say that Pats fans don't or don't "need to" trash talk or I'm gonna lose my lunch. Sure, there are exceptions to the rule (believe me, I know how insufferable "Yinzer Nation" can be) but they are just as bad if not worse than any other successful team's fanbase. And I'm not sure who's more annoying, the true Massholes or all the bandwagon hoppers.

Also, here's my favorite Tom Brady-related quote, seen recently on Kissing Suzy Kolber: "The only thing Tom Brady’s bitch DOESN’T make him wear is a pair of testicles."

    Hahahahahaha!

I don't even like the Jets (although Mark Sanchez is nice to look at) but I hope they win. Big.

  7. Damn.
People get so fucking nutty about this game!
Anyway, now I'm gonna have to think about who I'm rooting for- for you, right now, I'll say GO PATS! :D

  8. Everything was going just fine then Wes Welker of all people had to open his mouth.
I just heard some clips from an interview he gave. He gave a 9 minute speech about his own team but he kept using terms like "put our best foot forward" and various other references to feet.
I think that was a low blow and it is beneath him to have said those things.

  9. I only really care about the other AFC game. Once that turns out correctly, with the CRavens sent home packing, then I will care.

    And root for the Jets.

    Nothing personal. Just enlightened selfinterest.

  10. I’ll tell you what; I’ll declare a one week truce with you for these weekend games. I’ll go with your Pats and you go with my Steelers. Deal?

Then next week it’s on and poppin’.

  14. "Yes, HE is that good."

    BUT NOT TODAY HE WASN'T!

    J-E-T-S!
