Lately I've been feeling quite grateful for the many wonderful things in my life. My children are happy, my family is healthy, together and at this moment in my life, I feel at peace.
While I know that "this too shall pass", as all does, I'm feeling the need to take the time to stop and give thanks.
And who better than Ricky Bobby to put a voice to my very thoughts in the bloggersphere?
Make no mistake, Taladega Nights was one of the WORST movies I have ever seen. In fact, the first words I spoke after the completion of the film were, "That's two hours of my life I want back!" But like most Will Ferrell movies, you can't appreciate the brilliance of his message until after the fact.
This scene was probably worth the price of the ticket alone and GOD DAMN if Ricky didn't eloquently express what I am feeling today.
Have a great weekend bloggers!
my fave line is "thank you for my red-hot smokin wife Carly, who is a stone cold fox"
Okay, you just converted me. I never liked watching Will Ferrell. I always thought he over-acted his characters (as well as Robin Williams), but I'm gonna watch this movie. What strikes me as even more funny about this scene is imagining how many retakes they took to get the scene. I wonder if there's a blooper reel out there somewhere. That would be hilarious!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I've already let it be known to my children (15 and 10) that when they have their own younguns, I lahk the names "Walker" and "Texas Ranger" jes fahn, fer grankids.
ReplyDeleteXO
GO PATS --- BEAT THOSE FILTHY, SCAVENGING, BIRD FLU-CARRYING CROWS!
Ugh...Taladega Nights was the point when Will Ferrell officially jumped the shark for me. I haven't watched one of his films and laughed since.
ReplyDeleteThis was the funniest blog of my day! I really disliked the movie, but you are right, Ricky Bobby hit the nail on the head here. Amen, Tom Cruise!
ReplyDeleteI agree with BE, he peaked and is falling fast while in flames.
ReplyDeleteI’ve never seen that movie, since I’m not into NASCAR, but that was funny as hell.
ReplyDeleteI made a resolution to be as positive as I can possibly be in any given situation so your message was right on the mark for me today. I hope that you have an amazing weekend as well!
This movie had its high points, and many low points, but the funny parts make it worth while!! Especially the prayer scene!!!
ReplyDeleteWill Ferrell is absolutely horrible and the least funny "comic" actor in the history of motion pictures (with the possible exceptions of Jim Varney and Mr. Bean).
ReplyDeleteThe only line I laughed at in that movie wasn't even Ferrell. It was a line regarding the gay French driver "sitting on the pole".
Just my opinion, of course.
Maybe he can use his baby Jesus powers on ya.
ReplyDeleteTalladega Nights was horrible? WHAT?? I'mmona come at you like a spider monkey!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it's an awful movie; his best friend steals his wife, and they just kind of gloss over it.
ReplyDeleteI do like Leslie Bibb, if only because she has a fun-sounding name.
And sweet Baby Jesus with your mouth hull of Holy Mary Titty milk, I thank you for bringing us Candy.
ReplyDeleteJaysus and I was simply thankful for waking up in this morning.
ReplyDeleteYa, why not the teenage Jesus?
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen Taladega Nights...maybe I will rethink it though.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with Cal: "I like to party, so I like my Jesus to party."
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool video. Thanks for sharing. It's good to step back and look at what we have sometimes too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIf I came over here for any other reason than to look at you, I would be lying. Have a great weekend. Well, it's almost over now innit.
ReplyDeleteoh god i love me some Will Farrell. . . especially this movie . .
ReplyDeletethank you little baby jesus . .
