Except that the fat lady just sung an aria,
the fork has been properly stuck in the Sox,
hasta la vista, baby, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Toast. Burned toast.
And to think, I paid to witness that travesty.
The Nation mourns today...
Well, if Angels and Dodgers become World Series teams, at least the games won't be played in snow or icy wind conditions.
ReplyDeleteI wish the WS was an early September event.
The dream floats off into the ether once more.
ReplyDeleteWe need to define the term "Nation" as it relates to sports teams.
ReplyDeleteThere IS a Gator-Nation, of course.
There is no "Red Sox Nation".
I don't follow baseball anymore, so I really don't care who wins the WS. As long as it's not the Yankees.
ReplyDeleteActually, I have a soft spot for the Angels because I used to love Chuck Finley back in the day (before Tawny Kitaen started abusing him).
I’m sorry for your loss. But it’s hard to have too much sympathy for you, with me being a Pirates fan. First the ‘almosts’ of the early 90’s with Sid Bream’s choking ass, and then …..well the last 15 years have kind of sucked. But the Sox were always my #2, especially after that miracle series in 2005?
ReplyDeleteI wanted a Yankee/Red Sox ALCS, but this works for me too. ;)
ReplyDeletenot everyone is a Red Sox fan, so the nation does not mourn. :o)
ReplyDeleteI was happy to see this guy blow a huge game like this actually. Maybe it will put his ego in check.
In an effort to be gracious, I will refrain from saying what I'd really like to say here (I'm reeeeally not a fan of Papelboob).
ReplyDeleteAnd guess who's got tickets to ALCS Game 4 in Anaheim?
GO YANKEES!!!
Oh, I have so much opinion on this. I think, as disappointing as it was, the Sox were not going to come back and win 3 straight. And there must be nothing worse than flying cross country after being eliminated. So, outside of one game's lost revenues for Fenway, all we did was speed up and improve the inevitable.
ReplyDeleteAnd to blame Pap is rediculous, how about the entire lineup batting up a stinkbomb in the first 2 games, to even be in a position like yesterday.
I still have a Papelboner.
well, some of the nation.
ReplyDeleteHow about them Phils!
I'm with you, sister, but keep it in perspective. Nearly the entire time we (mostly me) were growing up, the Sox were perennial heart-breakers. After '67, they began to be respectable for good. '75 was another big tease (I tried to keep a little piece of the infield grass alive in a marjorine tub) . . . '78 was . . . never mind . . . '86 was tough to watch . . . and then in '04 and '07 we broke through. Can't win every year.
ReplyDeleteGo Pats!!!!
